This program is based on a philosophy that all children can excel in an environment that is risk free, positive, and promotes intelligence. Every child has the right to learn, to be successful, and to feel safe and secure. Each child also deserves respect and personal attention from both teachers and peers.

I believe that the multi-age is the best learning environment for young children. All children, especially young children, meet developmental milestones at different rates and times during their life. When surrounded by peers of multiple ages, all children are learning at their own level.

Each activity, game, and lesson is planned with different objectives in mind and scaffolding in place to ensure each child is exposed to all levels of learning and that they are able to succeed and learn at their own developmental level. In the multi-age environment, each child has the opportunity to be both a learner observing others and has to opportunity to be modeling the great example, teaching them patience and experiencing the confidence from being a leader.

I will provide each child with the opportunity for individual structured learning experiences as well as free time for personal learning choices, social interaction, and growth. I believe that while young children learn through play and free choice, it is also necessary to provide purposeful instruction in an educational environment to achieve a well-rounded balance of learning success.
